Tornadoes are probably among the scariest things that you will find in nature. They are unpredictable and very powerful. Seeing photographs of the damage left behind can make anyone worried, especially when they hear of warnings in the area where they live.
So, what should you do if you find out that your home is in the path of a tornado? It depends greatly on the amount of warning that you receive. If you have a lot of time, and you live in a home that isn’t built very well, your best bet might be to pack up your essentials and head to a shelter. On the other hand, if there is an imminent risk of a tornado touching down near your home, you would need to make do with what you have on hand.
Naturally, the best place would be in a sturdy basement, but not all homes have one. Another good option is underneath a stairway or inside of your tub in the bathroom. Make sure to pad yourself with pillows or even a mattress to protect your body from debris.
